Both a USB 1.1 or 2.0 device can be connected directly to the USB2Connect or DuoConnect controller and be expected to operate at its optimal speed.AdaptecAdaptec
There are a few rules that need to be followed for correct operation:
In the case where USB Hubs are used, it is important to realize that USB 2.0 devices and Hubs will not operate at 2.0 speeds if connected to a USB 1.1 port. The order in which they are connected is important. For example if you connect a USB 2.0 Hub to one of the external ports of the USB2Connect controller, then connect a USB 1.1 Hub to the first hub, both devices are capable of operating at their respective speeds. But, if you were to reverse the order in which they are connected (USB 2.0 Hub after the 1.1 Hub), then the USB 2.0 Hub will only be capable of USB 1.1 speeds. Adaptec drivers for windows 7
