CSR Releases Bluetooth Software for Developers

Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) has released its Bluetooth software, BlueCore Host Software, to allow designers to embed Bluetooth into a range of Windows-enabled devices, from mobile phones to PDAs.

CSR said it can now offer customers a 'fully engineered hardware and software solution for embedded applications that is pre-qualified to version 1.1 of the Bluetooth standard.'

According to CSR, BCHS is the first software to run on the Bluetooth stack on the BlueCore hardware leaving only the Bluetooth profiles to run on the host system. This means requirements for host processing power and memory are reduced.

At the moment, the following profiles are supported:

• Audio Gateway
• Dial-up Networking
• Object Push

'This is a complete solution including everything from the antenna through CSR’s single-chip silicon to sample end-user applications,' said Eric Janson, vice president North America, CSR. 'The developer can rapidly enable embedded devices with Bluetooth capability, incurring minimum design risk, ensuring fastest time to network.'
